Shield
Dark blue and scarlet are the color associated with Personnel Services units. The polestar denotes guidance, direction, and leadership, while the chevronwise division of the shield reflects support and strength. The heraldic fountain symbolizes water and highlights the unit's baptism of fire in the Mediterranean area during World War II. The polestar also alludes to the North Star and underscores the Battalion's service in Alaska.

The palm, for victory, with the sword and quill commemorate the unit's campaign participation during World War II (European-African-Middle Eastern Theater).
